The alliance between England and Portugal is the oldest diplomatic alliance in the world still in force and was signed in 1373, in the Middle Ages.

The city of Porto gave its name to Port Wine. This wine which was carried by the typical “Rabelo” boats down River Douro, was exported to the rest of the world.

The city of Lisbon was founded by Phoenician navigators over 3 thousand years ago. Its first name was “Alis-Ubbo” (for being a good port). It later became “Olisippo”, in the Roman Empire.
